Ben Lomand Connect is pleased to announce Van Buren County High School’s media club is a grant recipient of $5,000 sponsored by The Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) and Ben Lomand Connect. These funds will be utilized to purchase equipment needed to film sporting events and extracurricular activities in the school system. The media program was formed in 2014 to bring basketball games to local viewers who cannot attend. The program has grown to eight students and has expanded to awards days and graduations.
CEO/General Manager Lisa Cope states, “Ben Lomand Connect is thrilled the Van Buren County High School Media Class has been awarded this grant. This program has been a great partnership between the students and BLTV for the benefit of the community. We look forward to continuing this relationship and are excited about the continued growth and development of the students and the program. “
Media Club Sponsor Beth Simmons expressed her appreciation of the grant by stating, “My kids will be so excited to hear about this. Winning this grant will give VBHS Media Club students the ability to have all the equipment they need to produce all kinds of school events for our and BLTV Channel 6 and our YouTube channel. “
