Ben Lomand Names Gov’t & Regulatory Affairs Manager

Ben Lomand Connect’s General Manager and CEO, Greg Smartt, announces that Jennifer Gilliam has been named the Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager at Ben Lomand Connect and begins her new role immediately.

Gilliam has been employed with Ben Lomand Connect for 27 years and started her career in customer service. She has held positions in the Internet and Network Operations departments and most recently as Special Projects Coordinator, where she was project manager for Ben Lomand’s state and federal grant applications, of which Ben Lomand has been the recipient of over $17 million in awards to build fiber to underserved areas of Tennessee.

“I am excited to announce Jennifer as our new Government and Regulatory Affairs Manager. Jennifer has been an integral part of Ben Lomand’s grant process and has worked closely with governments on franchise agreements.  She has built many relationships at the local, state, and federal levels. I am excited for her as she moves into this new role” states, Smartt.

Jennifer grew up in Warren County and lives in Manchester, Tennessee, with her husband, Marshall Gilliam, and daughters Savannah and Ashley. Jennifer has a degree from the University of Mississippi, where she was on the Women’s Golf team. She enjoys attending golf tournaments for her daughters, who play at Mississippi State and MTSU. Gilliam is the daughter of Jackie and Shirley Haley and a member of First Baptist Church in Manchester.

Regarding the announcement, Gilliam commented, “I am very grateful for the opportunities I have been given at Ben Lomand, and I am excited about taking on this new role. Ben Lomand Connect has been working diligently to bridge the digital divide by deploying fiber to underserved areas. It is very rewarding to play a small part in improving the quality of life of residents in our communities.”
